You can support my beekeeping efforts by purchasing some really neat merchandise from my online store. It will be shipped directly to you! I hope to add more items and designs later on this summer, but being out in the beeyard and setting things up takes up most of my days! I sincerely appreciate your support! Thank you!
Stay tuned for updates as honey becomes available. It's a work in progress and a labor of love by me and thousands of my bee's!
Why your support matters? Because with your support I can produce more honey and honey products and make a difference in the world! We have different levels of sponsorship available!
OUR RAW HONEY
Our raw honey is simply unprocessed and unheated; it is only lightly filtered. Each batch and variety has a unique color and taste, varying from hive to hive and harvest to harvest.
WHAT IS THE SHELF LIFE OF HONEY?
Honey has no expiration date and an infinite shelf life. Depending on the variety, it may crystallize over time. For the best experience, we recommend consuming our raw honey within two years of purchase.
DO NOT FEED TO INFANTS
Do not feed honey to infants under one year of age.
HONEY CONSUMPTION
By consuming our honey, you acknowledge and agree that Tuskegee Honey LLC. is not responsible for any damages, harm, or adverse effects that may result from its consumption. It is the consumer's responsibility to ensure that they do not have any allergies or medical conditions that could be affected by honey. Please consult with a healthcare professional if you have any concerns or pre-existing conditions.
WHY IS MY HONEY SOLIDIFYING?
Raw honey has an infinite shelf life and will not go bad, but it will crystallize or granulate over time. This is a natural process for all raw honey. Is crystallization a bad thing? Not at all! It indicates that your honey is raw and of the highest quality. Many people actually prefer their honey in crystallized form. If you prefer a liquid consistency, simply place the open jar in a pot or pan of hot (not boiling) water until it liquefies.
WHAT IS THIS WHITE STUFF ON TOP OF THE HONEY WHEN I OPEN THE JAR?
The white stuff on top of the honey is "honey foam," which forms from tiny air bubbles escaping to the top. After bottling, air bubbles in the honey work their way to the surface, creating this foam. There's nothing wrong with the honey or the foam, and both are perfectly edible.
WHY DOES YOUR HONEY LOOK SO MUCH DIFFERENT THAN THE HONEY BEAR ON THE SHELF AT THE GROCERY STORE?
The difference in appearance is due to processing. Our raw honey contains pollen and will crystallize over time, sometimes within a few months for certain varieties. Because it is unprocessed, our honey may appear more opaque or darker. Many consumers are used to golden-colored, liquid honey, but these commercial honeys are often filtered and heated, which removes the natural enzymes and pollen that give honey its exceptional taste and nutritional value.
DO HONEY PRODUCTS NEED TO BE REFRIGERATED?
Honey should be kept at room temperature. The closer it is kept to 57 degrees, the quicker it will crystallize. Even after opening, there is no need to refrigerate or freeze honey.
HOW IS TUSKEGEE HONEY SUSTAINABLE?
We care for our hives and only remove excess honey when it is available. Our honey comes second to our bees. All our honey is packaged in environmentally friendly glass jars.
ARE YOUR PRODUCTS NATURAL OR ORGANIC?
We are dedicated to keeping honey the way it was meant to be—raw. Our honey varieties are all natural with no additives or flavorings. Varieties depend on what the bees are foraging and pollinating at extraction time. Due to concerns about the ethics of controlling where our bees go, we do not have USDA Organic certification (there is currently no United States certification for organic honey—bees go where they please).
IS YOUR HONEY NON-GMO?
Our products are not Non-GMO Project Verified. However, all of our hives are kept and maintained in exclusively organic landscapes where no pesticide or insecticide use is practiced.
IS YOUR HONEY GLUTEN-FREE?
Yes, honey is inherently gluten-free. However, we are not certified gluten-free.
IS YOUR HONEY KOSHER?
Yes, all raw honey is inherently kosher. However, we are not certified kosher.
